partisan pacquiao

Especially if he wins.
This is because many filipinos, me included, have been turned off by his crass endorsement of GMA. In a number of occasions, Pacquiao had profusely and mindlessly thanked the Arroyo couple, particularly the First Gentleman, even though the very mention of the Pidals would make the average Filipino throw a fistful toward Malacanang.

It did not escape many that Manny might have been paid big-time by the Pidals to serve as the palace poster boy. This not only turns off filipinos, but turns on their anger as well against the very personification of plunder and prevarication - which Pacquiao is best advised to avoid.

He should learn from boxing history. In the 1938 rematch between Joe Louis and german Max Schmeling, the later allowed himself to serve as Adolf Hitler's poster boy to help Nazis preach and prove Aryan racial superiority, and be portrayed as a symbol of that superiority especially so that Louis was Black. When Louis sent Schmeling crashing to the canvass, the german's career ended and was unfairly remembered until his death as a Nazi symphatizer.

Manny Pacquiao should bear in mind he is the people's champion and should not champion a regime that may find itself being KO'd soon by an angry people. if he wins, Pacquiao will strengthen his standing as a hero to all filipinos, but will be considered a heel if he came home to the philippines and be photographed raising the hands of a cheating president.

Manny should thus keep his distance from the Pidals knowing he would rather be hailed by the people as "Pacman Pacquiao" rather than be derided as "Pac U Pidal."
